Bio

I am a research scientist working on point cloud intelligent processing and BIM modeling. I earned my PhD from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) (2018–2022), advised by Prof. Jack C.P. Cheng, and my MPhil in Cartography and Geographic Information Systems from Wuhan University (2013), advised by Prof. Zhongliang Fu.

My research spans 3D point cloud processing, deep learning, multi-modal AI (foundation models and 2D/3D LLMs), weakly-supervised and long-tailed learning, and remote sensing applications. I build reusable tools, datasets, and benchmarks — most recently Industrial3D, the largest terrestrial LiDAR dataset for industrial MEP facilities. I am currently a Research Scientist at the Geography Institute of Guangzhou, Guangdong Academy of Sciences.

Research Interests

  • 3D point cloud processing: semantic / instance segmentation, scene understanding
  • Weakly-supervised, long-tailed, and unsupervised learning
  • Multi-modal AI: foundation models (SAM, DINO, CLIP) and 2D/3D LLMs
  • Large-scale dataset and benchmark construction
  • Remote sensing and GIS applications; scan-to-BIM
